10 Basic Skills For Men

Inspired by an article I came across today, James Bond, and all my guy friends out there.

1. Maintain personal hygiene
Needless to say, this is the essential survival skill in modern society.

2. Manner behind the wheel
There are men who are charming, gentle and caring in the romantic restaurant setting, but as soon as they are on driver seat, the next thing you know is angry curses, reckless speeding, and impatient finger-pointing. This driving bipolar disorder reveals a man’s inadequacy of getting a hold of himself under stress and handling negative emotions.

3. Good at fixing things
From most household problems to flat tires to computers, a man should have clues on how to resolve those basic issues. You don’t have to be a mechanics, plumber or computer geek to know how to change light bulbs, flat tires and hook up wireless.

4. Converse
The art of conversation is a skill shared by most charming/likable human beings. The ability to be interesting and charismatic without dominating a conversation is a skill reserved for the real men. A man should know how to socialize with your boss, negotiate with your clients, and charm your girl. When with your buddies, don't talk, just drink.

5. Knowledge about alcohol
Drinking itself I can write a whole article about it. Drinking is not just about physical satisfaction but also civilization and self-realization. Ideally, a man should have a wide-ranged knowledge about drinks in general, knowing what, where, when, how much and how to take your drinks, also capable of ordering a proper drink for the ladies. Always have enough alcohol in your home for any "drop-by guest”.

6. Firm handshakes
You think it’s just a handshake, think again. In any social setting, handshaking is always the very first physical contact between two strangers. It’s beyond superficial “hello” and pretentious smiling, it gives away who you really are and determines if you will be invisible or not in the next hour. Always offer your hand first, relax your muscles, reach the other person’s hand with a firm yet gentle grip, and finish with ONE shake. The total time span shouldn’t exceed 5 seconds.

7. Making jokes
Making clever jokes requires people reading, sensitivity, confidence, and constant awareness of surroundings. Always resist the urge to make stupid jokes or make fun of other people. Laughing at people is totally not cool, it's only ok to laugh with them.

8. Know when, how, and how much to tip
When a group of friends is out for dinner Friday night, we sometimes encounter this awkward moment that nobody at the table seems to know how to split the bill or how much to tip. It’s the cue for the guys to step up and do the math. Male tipping behavior indicates his mathematical ability, financial comfort, humanity and willingness to take responsibility.

9. Wingman
The brave wingmans behaviors express the selfless love and true friendship. A men should be able to do whatever it takes to help his buddy out, even the scar will stay with him the rest of his life, even no amount of alcohol can ever wash the stain from his memory.

10.Be possibly good in at least one sport
A man should know the basic skills of every major sport, football, basketball, soccer, baseball, hockey, and various forms of non athletic games such as poker, pool, and fishing. However, if due to physical challenges, a man can’t perform in any sport, he should at least have knowledge and experiences in fantasy football. Also, one should be able to explain the rules and basic skills of any of these competitions to any woman who asks.
